Seminars and Workshops Seminar on “Make Mental Health & Well-being for all a Global Priority – Fighting the recent flood trauma in Pakistan” on 11th Oct 2022 to celebrate World Mental Health Day

Centre for Counselling and Career Advisory (C3A) celebrated the World Mental Health day on 11th October 2022 at Jinnah Auditorium. The theme of this year was “Make Mental Health a Global Priority – Fighting the Recent Flood Trauma in Pakistan”.

Chief Guest of the occasion Pro-Rector (Academics) Dr. Osman Hasan thanked the key note speakers for sharing their valuable empirics with students. He further said that it is a part of NUST’s social responsibility to cater for the Mental Health of its community. He praised C3A team for holding the event at the University level after a break of 3 years.

Director C3A Mr. Ali Hasnain Sayed welcomed the audience by emphasizing on NUST’s distinction in setting up a Mental Health & Well-being, Centre in 2008 & stressed on its importance by negating the stigma around it out rightly.

Distinguished Guest Speaker Dr. Fareed Aslam Minhas elaborated on child hood deprivations/ tough experiences developing into Psychological disorder. Ms Angela Marie talked about the unique connection of Foods in raising the serotonin levels.  Ms Zehra Kamal touched upon the critical aspect of role of HEI’s in National emergencies with regards to treating traumas of the masses.

C3A shows its gratitude towards Principals/ Directorates/ Schools who enthusiastically participated in the event. The Students/Staff engaged in an interactive Q&A session which went on for 45 minutes. C3A is specially grateful to Student Affairs Directorate & NUST Fitness Club for making it a collaborative effort.
