C3A Session on Mental Health Awareness at NSHS

-

The NUST Centre for Counselling & Career Advisory (C3A) conducted a mental well-being awareness session as a general awareness and preventive intervention for students. This session was attended by approximately 130 students enrolled in the MBBS and HND programmes.

The intervention aimed to promote awareness around mental well-being, encourage early recognition of signs and indicators that may suggest significant distress or the need for urgent support, and address stigma associated with seeking professional, peer, or institutional assistance. This session also covered practical self-help strategies, the importance of peer support and the resources and referral pathways available through C3A. The session was interactive and generated active student participation and questions, particularly regarding C3A support services, procedures for accessing support and avenues for seeking assistance for themselves or facilitating support for peers.
